Dr. Ana Lucia Fonseca Tapia

She is a visionary advocate for social change, authenticity, and organizational diversity. With a remarkable educational journey, Ana Lucia holds a Ph.D. in Language Equity and Education Policy, focusing on Latina entrepreneurship, complementing her diverse academic background, including a BS in Social Psychology and an MS in Forest Engineering focused on social innovation for community development.

Serving as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Oregon State University Division of Extension and Engagement, she leads the charge in fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring Civil Rights compliance.

Before assuming her role as DEI Director, Ana Lucia contributed significantly as an extension faculty member, where she designed culturally relevant STEM and healthy living curricula, reflecting her commitment to bridging the gap between people, the environment, and access. Her career spans a range of impactful roles, from working with the Federal Mexican Government to collaborating with the International Fund of Agriculture on innovative rural development initiatives for indigenous communities.

Ana Lucia’s passions encompass the realms of social justice, the dynamic intersection between innovation and diversity, culturally relevant programming, economic equity, and community economic empowerment. Her dedication to promoting equity extends beyond her professional life, as she serves on the Oregon State Credit Union Board of Directors and the ARCS Foundation for Science in America.

Beyond her career, Ana Lucia finds solace and joy in the great outdoors, indulging in trail running and camping. Yet, her most cherished moments are spent dancing and playing with her beloved daughter. Driven by a profound commitment to positive impact, Ana Lucia Fonseca is a force for change in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
